- $0/mo
Rough estimate only, not a pre-approval or offer of credit. It uses 2026–27 resident tax rates plus the Medicare levy, counts 80% of other income, uses the higher of your expenses or a basic living-cost benchmark, counts 3.8% of card limits as a monthly commitment, and tests the loan at your rate plus a 3% buffer over 30 years, as lenders typically do. Every lender's rules differ, so your broker will confirm your real borrowing power.

What's a balloon? A lump sum left owing at the end. It lowers your monthly repayment, but you'll need to pay it out, refinance it or trade in the asset when the term ends.

Every dollar in an offset account is subtracted from your loan balance before interest is charged, so you pay less interest and can be loan-free sooner, while keeping your savings available.
over the life of the loan
Your repayment stays the same at $0. The offset just means more of it goes to the loan, not interest.
Estimate only. Assumes a variable principal-and-interest loan with a 100% offset, a constant rate, and that the offset money is not withdrawn. Excludes fees, such as package fees that often come with offset accounts.

Compare what you pay now with a lower rate on the same balance and time left. Switching costs are included, so you can see when the move pays for itself.
on your repayments
Estimate only. Assumes principal-and-interest repayments, monthly, with both rates staying the same for the rest of the loan. "Saved over the loan" is interest saved minus switching costs. Switching costs can include discharge, application, valuation and government fees, and any break cost on a fixed rate. Some lenders offer cashback that can offset these.

About this calculator
Enter your balance, the years left and your current rate, then try a new rate. The calculator compares both loans over the same remaining term, takes off your switching costs and shows how long it takes for the move to pay for itself.
It works for home loans as well as car and personal loans. Lenders often keep their sharpest rates for new customers, so if you haven’t reviewed your loan in a couple of years, there may be a better deal out there.
Before you switch
- Check for break costs if you’re on a fixed rate. They can outweigh the saving.
- Compare comparison rates and fees, not just the headline rate.
- Keep your old repayment after switching to pay the loan off sooner.
Refinance savings calculator: common questions
Is it worth refinancing for a small rate cut?
It can be. On a large balance, even a fraction of a percent adds up over time. The key is whether the saving outweighs your switching costs, which this calculator shows as the time it takes to cover them.
What does it cost to refinance?
Typical costs include a discharge fee from your current lender, government fees to register the new mortgage, and sometimes application or valuation fees. Fixed-rate loans can also have break costs. Some lenders offer cashback that covers these.
Can I ask my current lender for a better rate first?
Yes, and it’s often worth doing. A broker can show you what other lenders are offering, which gives you something concrete to negotiate with or a clear reason to move.
Will refinancing affect my credit score?
Using this calculator doesn’t. Applying for a new loan involves a credit enquiry, so it’s best to compare options first and only apply once you’ve chosen a lender.
